Staff Nurse, Llanbedr Court

How would you summarise your role?

“My role is very varied. I spend most of my time talking with clients and helping them with their personal care. We try to involve them in activities and games wherever possible to keep their spirits up. I help clients with community access and also have regular contact with family members and sometimes purchasers. I administer medication to the clients when required and work closely with the MDT to ensure the highest level of care is provided. There are always lots of reports to write and I work with the support staff at the unit to ensure they are providing the right levels of support to the clients. My role is basically helping the clients with their day to day life.”

Why do you like working for LSH?

“The money is good! The opportunities for training and development are also very good and the company really encourages you to develop yourself. Not only is there a very good internal training programme but there are also opportunities for external training which helps to broaden your experience as a Nurse. Both the company and my line manager are very supportive and that is very important to me. The company gives people the opportunity to work flexibly when it can and it’s good to know that that option is there should I ever need it.”

How have you developed since joining LSH?

“I was newly qualified when I joined, so I’m definitely a much better Nurse now than I was then. Not only is my experience greater but also my confidence and overall knowledge of my role is much better. I’ve had the chance to act as a Unit Leader recently which was another great development opportunity for me. I really hope to develop my career further within LSHG and hope to progress to a Senior Staff Nurse role or even Unit Leader in future.”

Would you recommend working at LSH to a friend?

“Yes.”
