Our People - Occupational Therapy Technician, Heatherwood Court
Name: Jodi
Position: Occupational Therapy Technician
Location: Heatherwood Court
How would you summarise your role?
“My role is to assess clients’ needs and then provide a therapeutic intervention programme. There are lots of different types of therapy that we use including community access, IT skills and cookery. We also help them with things such as using public transport, budgeting skills and road safety. Some of our clients are even learning Spanish and Welsh! We carry out 6 weekly evaluations and then provide reports to the Occupational Therapists which they will use in MDT meetings. We are consistently trying to help the clients to develop their own daily living skills.”
Why do you like working for LSH?
“There are really good opportunities for development and we have a really good team here. The OT team is very supportive and the team as a whole at Heatherwood is very good. The OT teams across all of the units meet regularly to update each other on events and developments at our respective units.”
How have you developed since joining LSH?
“I’ve been with the company for over 18 months now. I started as an OT Assistant. I then completed NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care and was then promoted to OT Technician. It’s a very varied role and as I’ve already said, there are lots of different skills to teach the clients. I’ve benefited a lot from the knowledge of the more experienced Occupational Therapists throughout the company.”
Would you recommend working at LSH to a friend?
“Yes – I already have”
