Our People - Occupational Therapy Technician, Woodlands Nursing Services
Name: Paul
Position: Occupational Therapy Technician
Location: Woodlands Nursing Services
How would you summarise your role?
“I’m here to support the full time Occupational Therapist as part of the Clinical Services group. My role is primarily to work with the clients and to maximise the development opportunities that they have. We help them to regain functional skills and to engage in meaningful occupation. I work alongside other members of the therapy group including the Physiotherapy and the Education team. We have hydrotherapy sessions, kitchen skills and other activities of daily living. We also hold morning sessions to motivate the clients and help them get set up for the day.”
Why do you like working for LSH?
“The environment here is excellent. Compared to most hospitals, the facilities are really good. I enjoy the multi disciplinary working practices. Also the pay is very good! I really enjoy the range of work I do and my interest is always maintained. The fact that I get regular supervisions and support is also really positive.”
How have you developed since joining LSH?
“I’ve been with the company for over 2 years. I’ve worked in OT in previous jobs in a community setting. I’ve attended many training courses during my time with the company that have helped me develop. Most notably, the Leading Groups, Tracheotomy Training and Oxygen and Medical Air Responsible Person courses I’ve attended have attended to my skill set.”
Would you recommend working at LSH to a friend?
“Yes, I already have.”
